A pair of Pateke, the very rare brown teal duck endemic to New Zealand, have chosen to visit and hopefully stay on Motuihe. They were first spotted around Christmas time so they have been on Motuihe for 8 months. The Pateke were not been released by the Trust, they probably flew over from the Coromandal and chose this lovely little island to make their home. A camera has been set up to monitor them and hopefully their future ducklings.
